Patrick Blanch is an accomplished and innovative trial attorney with particular experience dealing with legal and technical defenses. Patrick has been counsel on cases as minor as littering and as serious as rape and murder and he has obtained acquittals or dismissals for clients charge with offenses including rape and robbery.
Patrick also maintains a robust Appellate practice for individuals who have been convicted at trial but who believe that the Court made errors during their trial. Patrick’s experience in such cases extends to the Court of Appeals of Virginia and Supreme Court of Virginia, where he has successfully briefed and argued numerous cases. Patrick was trial counsel and appeal counsel in the case of Grant v. Commonwealth, in which the Virginia Court of Appeals set aside the conviction because the Commonwealth had violated his client’s right to confront his accusers as established by the United States’ Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Melendez-Diaz v. Massachusetts. Mr. Blanch has also served as a consultant for cases being argued at the United States Supreme Court.
The Virginia State Bar requires every practicing attorney to attend Continuing Legal Education seminars on an annual basis to ensure that attorneys stay up to date on legal developments. Patrick has been recognized by his peers for his legal abilities by being asked to speak at four Continuing Legal Education seminars: the 2008 Fairfax County Bar Association DUI CLE, the 2010 Virginia Statewide Public Defender Conference in Virginia Beach, and the 2010 Virginia CLE Program DUI Defense – Smart Strategy, Creative Tactics in Fairfax County and in Charlottesville.
Before joining Zinicola, Blanch & Overand, Patrick gained valuable experience as an Assistant Public Defender for Fairfax County, representing clients charged with misdemeanors including Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, Driving on a Suspended License, Petit Larceny, Possession of Marijuana, Assault, Sexual Battery, and Indecent Exposure. Patrick also served as counsel on many felony cases including Grand Larceny, Embezzlement, Construction Fraud, Drug Possession and Distribution, Felony Assault, Robbery, Aggravated Sexual Battery and Rape. Mr. Blanch graduated from the George Washington University Law School after earning his Bachelor of Arts degree at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. During law school, he worked at a Corporate Compliance and Lobbying firm in Washington, D.C.
Sarah C. Bruns
Sarah Bruns practices extensively in Loudoun County and Prince William County. Her practice covers the entire spectrum of criminal and traffic offenses, including Murder, Sex Crimes, Robbery, Burglary, Larceny, Drug Offenses, DWIs, and Reckless Driving. She also has experience in the Virginia Court of Appeals.
Ms. Bruns’ practice extends to Family Law cases, including Divorce, Child Custody and Visitation, Child Support, and Child Abuse and Neglect Cases. She also works as a Guardian ad Litem in the Loudoun County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Ms. Bruns served as an Assistant Public Defender for Loudoun County for three and a half years. While there, she defended clients charged with misdemeanor crimes such as Larceny, Assault, and Drug Possession, traffic offenses including Reckless Driving, Driving on a Suspended License, Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), and Hit and Run. Her felony experience includes Larceny and Fraud Offenses, Felony Traffic Offenses, Distribution of Controlled Substances, Burglary, Felony Assault, and Murder. While some crimes carry more harsh penalties than others, she has always practiced with the idea that every case is equally important to the person charged and should be treated that way. Prior to her work as a Public Defender, Ms. Bruns clerked for the Honorable William D. Hamblen in the Circuit Court of Prince William County. There, she learned firsthand what a judge typically expects regarding professional behavior and effective advocacy.
Ms. Bruns was born and raised in Prince William County, Virginia, attending Woodbridge Senior High School. She graduated from Centre College in 2003 and thereafter from the George Mason University School of Law. During her third year in law school, Sarah was a Writing Fellow in the First Year Legal Writing Program, teaching first year students how research and write legal briefs.
Mr. Zinicola has twice helped out my family with traffic tickets. In both cases he got a "points added to your driving record" situation reduced to "no points added to your driving record". He has a very thorough understanding of the courts and how to position yourself for the most positive outcome. Highly recommend.
I have hired Mr. Blanch on 2 separate occasions, and I cannot express my gratitude enough for everything he has done for me. If you are looking for an excellent attorney who will actually care about you and fight for your case, then look no further. He is a straight shooter and won't give you false hope or promises, but both times, he managed to get me an outcome which was beyond what I thought was possible. Mr. Overand assisted on my second case, and played a big role in obtaining the outcome they did. I am very grateful to both of them, and you'll be glad to have them on your side.
Excellent attorneys at reasonable rates Multiple personal experiences speak to this. Mr. Blanche (and Mr. Zinicola) are personable, hard working, and cunningly smart. Unlike other local firms that may be able to offer such a level of legal expertise, their rates are well within bounds of financial prudence. Don't hire an attorney until you've seen what this firm has to offer.
Mr. Patrick Blanch was extremely helpful and informative throughout my recent legal matter. Not only was he able to get positive results when I needed them most, he made sure I understood the process every step of the way. From our initial consultation to case conclusion, Mr. Blanch was top-notch. I highly recommend him.
The best lawyer
I met Todd while assisting one of our church member. I have found Todd extremely responsible, reasonable amount of money and easy to work with. He did an amazing job. I really strongly recommend him
A high quality and professional service
I came to Overand & Buster with little hope that anything could be done about my case, not because of the severity or frequency of it, but because i was already set on accepting it in a very pessimistic manner. I ended up with the opportunity to talk to Mr.Buster and he provided several different scenarios that could play out, but it was not just how in-depth he was about the case that was impressive but how confident he was in his ability to make something happen to put my case in good standing. The service provided by Overand & Buster was beyond incredible because even with my limited experience and interaction with law offices, not only did they put my case in good standing but actually exceeded any and every expectation we had going in from the first conversation had.
Thank you for a great quality and professional service. I will recommend you to my friends and family.
